Bombay Club

Rating:

Cuisine style:Indian
Value:A bit more expensive than other Indian restaurants in Cambridge but the portions are larger and very delicious. Upscale dining but only slightly pricier.
Service:Courteous and attentive - the water glass stays full. I've never had to wait more than a minute to get something that I needed.
Atmosphere:Elegant dining atmosphere - white table cloths and nice dinner napkins.
Where:57 JFK Street - Cambridge, MA - Harvard Square
When:Open daily - 11:30am to 11:00pm
Recommended:The chicken tikka masala is expertly seasoned and prepared - tender and moist with a wonderful curry flavor throughout each piece. The fish curry is excellent. The tandoori chicken is very good and richly flavored, you can taste the gentle 24 hour marination in each piece of chicken by how moist and juicy it is.
Prices/Cards:Mostly $10.95 for vegetarian dishes, $12.95 for chicken dishes, other specialties range from $12.95 to $15.95
Sound:Quiet and relaxing
Reservations:Never tried - seating has always been available even during peak dining hours...
Miscellaneous:E-Mail: vkapoor1@hotmail.com - www.bombayclub.com - a great view of Harvard Square during the day
Phone:617-661-8100
Comments:I can understand why Bombay Club has received high honors over the years. The quality of all the entrees is very good and their 10 course luncheon buffet is exceptional at $7.95 (M-F 11:30am 3:00pm). I have had many dinners there and never once have had a complaint. This is definitely a good place to start if you're wanting to try Indian cuisine for the first time and don't want to make a mistake. It's one of the better Indian restaurants in Boston.

Bombay Club has a lengthy menu - one is not for want of variety or experimentation. Everything is a success. The ingredients for their dishes are prepared daily on-site, including the spices, yogurt and cheese.

From their website: "The main dining hall is large and can accomodate private parties to serve their 10 course 'Maharaja Dinners'. Each dinner concludes with a demonstration of Mehendi, the intricate art of henna body painting. For those who wish to participate, an artist will hand paint decorations on guest's hands or feet."
